Colin Kroll, a technology executive who co-founded the HQ Trivia app, has been found dead in his New York apartment at the age of 35.
The city’s police department said officers had gone to Kroll’s Manhattan apartment early on Sunday after getting a call asking for a wellbeing check on him. He was found unconscious and unresponsive on his bed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kroll was the chief executive of the trivia app, which livestreams short trivia shows to users and became extremely popular after its release in 2017 before later experiencing a decline in popularity.
Kroll was named CEO of HQ Trivia in 2015. The year before, he was fired from Twitter after he was determined to be a "bad manager." Female employees claimed his behavior made them uncomfortable, however, no sexual harassment claims were ever filed.
HQ Trivia was having problems recently. It was steadily losing audience. In January, HQ was in the top 10 list of most downloaded iPhone games. It's now fluctuating between #250 and 500 in the U.S. Also, Kroll was dealing with an H.R. complaint by an HQ employee for his "aggressive management style."
Kroll was also the co-founder of Vine and was General Manager between 2013 and 2014. And, he was the Chief Technology Officer for Jetsetter. Prior to that, Kroll served as the Engineering Manager at Yahoo between 2007 to 2009.
The Nigerian Army has accused Amnesty International (Nigeria) of working hard to destabilise Nigeria. The Army made the allegation in a statement released on Monday, December 17. Read the statement below
The Nigerian branch of Amnesty International that has hitherto been well respected has deviated from the core values, principles and objectives of the original Amnesty International domiciled in the United Kingdom. There is credible information that the Nigerian branch of the International Non-governmental Organisation is determined to destabilise the Nigerian nation.
This is noted through fabrication of fictitious allegations of alleged human rights abuses against the Nigerian security forces and clandestine sponsorship of dissedent groups to protest, as well as unfounded allegations against the leadership of the Nigerian military. They have tried over the years using Boko Haram terrorists conflicts, Islamic Movement in Nigeria, some activists and now herders-farmers conflicts.
The NGO is at the verge of releasing yet another concorted report against the military, ostensibly against the Nigerian Army. Consequently, Nigerians should be wary of Amnesty International (Nigeria) because it's goals are to destabilise Nigeia and to dismember it. The Nigerian Army has no option than to call for the closure of Amnesty International offices in Nigeria, if such recklessness continues.

A traveller along the East-West road is currently nursing the injury he sustained after a police officer allegedly opened fire on him while begging for the officer to allow a bus driver continue his journey.
Facebook user, Mike Godwin who shared the story online, wrote;
"This happened on my way for Lagos yesterday on east west road by Rumuge, A police man stopped our bus asking for drivers license from our driver which he gave him after that , he requested for tinted permit then the driver told him that the car is a company car and that the copy of the permit was not with him.
We all came down pleading with him to let us go, but he bluntly refused. On seeing us another of same company bus stoped to ask his colleague what the issue was along side with some passengers the next thing was that the police man opened fire on the leg of this young man who was also presumed to be a force man just because he demanded an explanation on why we were unjustly delayed. Am yet to recover from the shock can't believe that the people that are meant to protect lives and properties, can just open fire and shot at a live that they are to protect.
Emma Coronel, wife of the Sinaloa drug cartel leader Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman, has broken her silence for the first time to deny she had an idea that he was a criminal and also insisted she never saw him do anything illegal.
Her notorious drug kingpin husband who is being held in custody is standing trial on multiple charges including murder conspiracy, drug trafficking, and money laundering.
The Los Angeles-born Mexican beauty queen, 29, was asked by Spanish-language network, Telemundo, on Monday if she had any clue about her husband's criminal activities.
The mother of El Chapo’s twin daughters Emaly Guadalupe and MarÃa Joaquina said: 'Of course not. The media outlets gave Joaquin too much fame,’ Coronel said of her husband. ‘They made him too famous.’
She also accused the media, saying they built up El Chapo’s image as a notorious drug kingpin.
The mother of two added that El Chapo is very confident with how the case is proceeding.
'He is clearly very positive. Very calm,' the kingpin's wife said. 'I have never seen him calm, really. But as I can see, he is very positive... and very calm.'

The Niger State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 53-year-old Vwang David with 335 blocks of 218 kilogrammes of weeds suspected to be marijuana.
David was arrested by the NDLEA operatives at Mokwa after allegedly making spirited effort to escape the long hands of the law. The suspect, according to officials of the NDLEA in Minna, had refused to stop when flagged down at Jebba control post resulting in contact being made to the Mokwa station but luck ran out for the fake soldier when his vehicle, a Toyota Camry, crashed.
Men of the NDLEA were reported to have arrived at the scene of the accident where David was rescued from the damaged car. A search on the vehicle revealed the hard drugs neatly loaded in the booth of the car leading to the arrest of the suspect. The state Commander of the NDLEA, Mrs Egwunwoke Ekaete, who paraded the suspect before newsmen on Tuesday in Minna said his arrest was as a result of intelligence at the disposal of the operatives.
Mrs Ekaete said Vwang had been passing through the route for sometime, adding that he was always in military uniform when going but dressed in mufti on the return journey, a development that aroused the suspicion of the police men. The suspect told newsmen that: “I am not the owner of the car, my friend sent me to deliver the car to his wife in Minna. “I did not know what was in the booth of the car. I have never seen Indian hemp in my life, this is my first time of seeing it. “I regret my action, it is my friend that pushed me into this trouble,” Vwang said, pointing out that his friend who was in another car “took off immediately they arrested me”.
Vwang said he took off from Lafenwa in Ogun State and was heading for Minna in Niger State. Mrs Ekaete said the suspect would be charged to court on the completion of investigation into the case.

A woman is trending on social media after she released a video blasting men who take women home and end up sleeping off without having sex with them.
She also criticized those men who will doze off after just one round of sex and give the excuse that they have to be at work the following day.
She added that no man will do that to her without her ensuring that he wakes up to finish what he has started.
Some social media users have blasted her for her comment and told her that a woman coming to a man's house doesn't equate to consent to have sex. Others have criticised her for putting so much pressure on men to perform. However, she's being praised by some people.

Instagram user, @miss_titilayomi, has shared the sad story of how she found the corpse of a man on the road and no government official attempted to remove it. Sharing the photo above on her IG page, she wrote;
Saw this man lying on the side of the road while on my way home from work. Must be exhausted I thought, definitely doesn’t have a home for an afternoon nap...What a pity! Until I looked closer...He’s dead! Why is he not breathing?! I call the attention of a LASTMA Officer who was mindlessly controlling traffic. Please check that man, I urged. ‘Madam he don die o, na so I dey here since morning, him never move’. Mouth agape, so many questions, none voiced. ‘Ah madam e dey happen like that, na so they just fall dan die like that’. By they, I’m sure he referred to the homeless, the mentally challenged, the less privileged.
What struck me about this scene was the presence of a presidential campaign poster for the current government just inches away from the deceased. ‘Progress’ it read.
I looked at the lifeless body once more, flies parading his body, ants all over his face...even in death he’s still ignored. #temporarypost #prayforNigeria ????
A father was fatally shot in front of terrified school children while waiting to pick his son up from school
Jim Donegan, who is in his 40s, was sitting in his car at 3 pm yesterday, waiting for his son, when he was shot dead at point-blank range in Belfast.
He was shot as many as five times in what was branded a "gangland-style execution". Police are searching for a man in his 40s and wearing a high vis security vest.
A security source said:
It was an execution in broad daylight.
A man shot while waiting in his car - that is for all intents and purposes a gangland-style execution. It was up close, personal and point blank.
You have to ask, was the shooter wearing that vest to blend into his surroundings? It’s been planned and thought through.
The normal dissident shooting would be a hit-and-run. And would any dissident Republican groups risk an own goal, not just outside a school but also at kicking out time? It’s not their style.
This feels very Southern, like the Kinahans, and police will be ruling no one out at this stage.
SDLP Councillor Tim Attwood described the shooting as "madness".
Speaking from the scene, he said:
It is absolutely sickening that a gun was fired in the vicinity of both a primary and secondary school in West Belfast today.
A Nigerian man, Olumide Olaniyan, has raised alarm after spotting another man believed to be a civilian, pictured above, roaming the streets in Nyanya, Abuja with an AK47 hung on his body. Read what Olumide wrote below
I was driving along Mararaba-Nyanya road this morning. I saw this man with a gun that looks like AK-47 or an automatic gun, I initially thought he is a security personnel, but, his dress, shoes and overall shabby look suggests otherwise.
I was tempted to go ask him about his ID card and why he was such a psychological violence to onlookers. Then, I remembered Maama Sunde's counsel those days I used to do student activism at the University of Bariga, "ma se subolation si oro oloro, [don't interfere in other people's matter, face yours]".
I felt that it is my business to ensure that there is safety and security in the land. I felt like questioning this dangerous looking man, on behalf of Nigeria. But, my sense talked to my brain, they both forced me to drive on. I will never know if the man is a vigilante, or a state security personnel. That certainly was not a Dane gun. That clothing was not a security personnel uniform. An undercover agent won't expose himself with an automatic gun in public. Our country is currently a fragile state, no onewho isn't a security personnel, should be allowed to move around with arms which may distress others.
Could this man be one of those so called Malian herdsmen that have flooded Tangaza LGA and other areas in Sokoto state? Nigeria needs to protect its territories from (possible) internal and external aggression. When people just walk along, unbothered with this kind of an uninformed and ununiformed man in their midst, it means we are drifting towards Hobbesian Democracy...
