Nigerians have started to gather at the National Stadium one of the venues of the nationwide protest.
Live Updates: Anti-government protest to start despite police presence
The massive nationwide protest against the federal government today February, 6 was announced by music star 2baba Idibia.
The protest was earlier championed by the musician but on Saturday, February 4; he released a video saying he was cancelling the protest due to security concern.
The singer said the protest was never his creation but a call to action to speak up for his people.
In spite of the cancellation, some Nigerians vowed to continue with the protest.

In Lagos, the protesters are expected to march from National Stadium in Surulere to the National Theatre, Iganmu, a distance of about four kilometres.
The protest is also set to take place simultaneously in Abuja, Enugu and Port Harcourt, among other major cities.

12.12 pm: The former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is at the Unity Fountain, venue of the #IstandwithNigeria protest in Abuja.
Also present at the Lagos protest are Moremi Ojudu daughter to a senior aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Commissioner of Police (CP) in Lagos state, Fatai Owoseni and Dolapo Badmus, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command.
In Abuja, Aisha Yesufu of the BringBackOurGirls campaign is speaking at the #IStandWithNigeria protest. She is talking of the need to be respectful all through the protest.
10.40 am: The procession leaves the National Stadium for Ojuelegba under bridge ahead of the march to National Theatre

9.08 am: Stadium gates were closed but they are now open with more citizens gathering.

We are live at the ongoing protest at National Stadium, Surulere. Nigerians are turning put in numbers to drive home their demands.
8.06 am: About 15 police vehicles have been spotted in the stadium with one armoured tank outside the premises though the protest has not started yet.
